The Webcam is unplugged until our 2008 season. So I've been getting requests for a WebCam and I decided to pull out my old D-Link wireless surveillance camera. It's got some issues (like it won't work with Firefox), but it's a start, and if it is popular, I might invest in something a little more state-of-the-art. The camera is mounted in our (Severns) Living Room window inside the house. Using controls on the webpage, you can rotate it and tilt it up and down. If someone else is using it as well, you will have to fight it out with them. There is no audio. I tried to turn on the audio, but the sound was too "chopped" and it was unintelligible. The view is mainly of our Front Magnolia tree, but if you rotate you can see some more lights, and if you tilt up you can see the icicles on the front of the Living Room. Clicking the "House" icon brings the camera to its home position. There are a couple of preset location that you can send the camera to as well. Please send the camera "home" or to "Reindeer" when you are finished. People get confused when they go to the webcam for the first time and the camera is pointing backwards at the blinds.... Here's what to do: 1) Remember to be using Internet Explorer (as far as I know this is not compatible with Safari either) 2) Click the link below 3) Login under "guest" and do not enter a password. 3) You will be prompted to install some activeX controls and an MPEG4 control. Say YES to these. 4) Enjoy!
